World prices for dairy products decreased by 1% in June - FAO
At the current level, the value of this index was 21.6 points (22.0 percent) higher than the level of the corresponding period last year. In June, the world quotations of all types of dairy products included in this index decreased, with the largest decline being shown by the prices of butter, which is explained by a sharp reduction in global import demand and a slight increase in stocks, especially in Europe.
Prices for whole milk powder decreased because of a reduction in the volume of purchases from China and a decrease in demand for spot supplies, while the export supply in the world remained at a level sufficient to meet the existing demand.
World quotations of cheese and skimmed milk powder also declined slightly under the influence of a reduction in global import demand and a slight increase in the volume of export supplies from the main producing regions.
