X5 is testing the concept of multi trade in own hypermarkets

The event, organized on the territory of Tver "Carousel", was attended by over 20 manufacturers of Tver region. Visitors could buy farm vegetables, meat, honey, dairy and other products.

"The volume of production of small farms is insufficient for retailers that seek to ensure the integrity of range across large areas of presence and are therefore they are forced to cooperate with the major manufacturers. Solution that will provide farmers own channel of distribution is multi-format trade, in particular, fairs as the time-tested and easily scalable format. Location of fairs near hypermarkets is a good way to provide farmers with a high flow of customers, and to give customers an additional alternative choice. I am sure that the example of X5 will be followed by other retail operators," said Deputy Minister of industry and trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Evtukhov.

In the nearest plans of X5 – fairs on the basis of hypermarkets "Karusel" in Saint-Petersburg, Lipetsk, and Tambov, where there will be sold products of manufacturers that do not cooperate with retail chains, including farm products, products of national art crafts and handicrafts.
