FrieslandCampina will close cheese factory in Belgium

Dutch FrieslandCampina will close its plant in Genk, Belgium. The decision was made within the framework of the capacity restructuring program, writes The DairyNews.
The closure of the cheese production facility will take place before the end of 2021. The cooperative intends to optimize the product portfolio, reduce excess capacity and structure the current ones for the most efficient production.
As a result, 221 people fall under the reduction. Since 2021, the cooperative will start a training and consultation session with employees to find a new job.
