Dmitry Patrushev: If we do not transform ESG, our achievements in agriculture will lose their meaning

‘All the development of production, all the base we need for domestic consumption (also necessary for export), will soon be unclaimed if we do not take into account all our actions that affect the environment and lead to climate change. All our figures, all the remarkable achievements in the export of agricultural products, can decrease at the same time if we do not transform ESG,’ Dmitry Patrushev stressed.

The expert added that by the end of this year, the agency will prepare a plan for adapting agriculture to global climate change. It will include environmentally safe and effective methods of adapting production to changing climatic conditions. The main aspects of the plan will be land reclamation, the involvement of unused plots in agricultural turnover, the systematic development of villages and small towns. Attention will also be paid to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in agriculture.
